CB101745I’m quite particular when it comes to my pillows, and for the last several years, I have had a special pillow that I’ve slept with every night. I take this pillow everywhere I go—from road trips to plane rides. This pillow has been with me to China, Mexico and various other places around the country. In fact, I couldn’t go anywhere without it.

It’s true that no other type of pillow can match the comfort of a king down pillow. It feels like I’m sleeping up in a cloud, and I never wakeup feeling stiff or sore in the morning. These pillows are soft beyond comprehension and allow users to sink peacefully into dreamland.

percale-sheet-setsCountry home decor is a very popular theme and has been for many years.  Cottage style, rustic, Americana, country plaids and checks, Victorian, European country, farm styles, log cabin, lodge styles, patriotic, and retro are all offshoots of country home decor, which emanate a warm, inviting feeling. Since such a wide range of styles and products fall under the country home umbrella, it’s easy to add these accents to your home.

Country bedding ensembles are part of this look when decorating a bedroom. Combine handmade quilts with your queen percale sheets to achieve a rustic, inviting façade. Nostalgic kitchen linens, bathroom accents, and vintage-inspired cookware, such as the Dutch oven, have made a comeback as accompaniments to the country home decor renaissance.

Bed linens and pillowcases are important elements in our lives since we spend a third of our lives in bed. And now you can feel like an Egyptian princess in your own home thanks to twin Egyptian cotton sheets. Here are a few tips to help you care for your Egyptian cotton bed linens to extend their life and preserve their quality:

~Change linens once a week and wash according to manufacturer’s instructions. Follow warm or cool water recommendations to prevent shrinkage.

~Keep linens sparkling by removing stains using non-chlorine oxygenated bleach which is gentler on fabrics. Don’t use fabric softener as it decreases moisture absorbency and weakens fibers.sleeping-lady

~Treat any stubborn stains. Re-launder when you find spots before putting sheets in the dryer.

~Use low heat when drying sheets and remove from the dryer while they are slightly damp to avoid weakening the fibers. You can iron them instead until they are completely dry.

~Store top and fitted bottom sheets and one pillowcase inside the other pillowcase for easy retrieval from the closet.

~Classify sets of sheets by bedroom and have three sets on hand per bed. Rotate these sheets by putting the most recently washed on the bottom of the pile and using the set on the top of the stack.

guest-roomGetting ready for your house guest is not a big chore. You’ll want them to feel at home and to make sure there not bored or uncomfortable. Hopefully your house guest is good friends and you know their hobbies and interests.

Preparing the guest room is especially important. This is the room your visitors will stay and it should be a cozy haven, place which they can retreat and feel pampered.

Make you have the bed made with nice fresh bed linens. I find that when using Egyptian cotton sheets my guest just love to spend time in the guest room. Make sure you have vacuumed and dusted everything down just in case your guest suffers from dust allergies.

If you know what your guest’s like to read put some magazines and paperbacks on the night stand. Put some scent candles in the room with a book of matches in case they would like to light the candles.

The guest bathroom should have extra towels and face clothes. Leave unopened soap; bathe gel, shampoo, conditioner, bubbles bath and toothpaste within reach. A hair dryer, extra tooth brushes just in case they for get theirs and other bathroom staples should be left out for you house guests’.

When house guest come to stay the personal touches can make them feel at home. I’m sure they will be touched by your thoughtfulness and will be sure to return the favor in the future.

beach-towels-many-styles-patternsSchools out and the Hot! Hot! Summer weather has finally arrived. Whether you spend your time at home around a pool or at a cottage or maybe you have a boat to go on travel the water ways. The most important article we must check is how our beach towels are. If they have seen better days from other summer maybe it is time to replace them.
With the hot weather you may want to invite family and friends to join you at your pool or cottage or at the boat. It’s nice to have extra velour or terry cloth beach towels on hand just in case you guest for get to bring one.
Beach towels are larger and longer than a bath or pool towels. The beach towel is used to dry off after swimming, to lie on the beach and also to be worn when changing cloths in a public area. Beach towels often come in colorful patterns and prints. So if you are replacing your old towels buy different colors and patterns to give to family or friend while they stay and tell them that this is there special velour towel for the week end.
Have a great summer and enjoy the weather .

down-comforterThere’s nothing cozier than having a soft blanket to go to sleep with, which is why many people continue to sleep with their childhood blanket for years after adolescence. It goes without saying that high-quality bedding can aid your sleep. For a while I tried to use a cotton quilt inside my duvet cover, but I could never get used to it because it wasn’t very soft.

In order to remedy the problem, I decided to buy a full goose down comforter and place it inside my duvet cover. What a difference the down comforter made. I sleep so soundly now! I can’t say enough about what a soft bed can do for your sleep. Replace your old comforter with a down comforter to experience a little bit of heaven on earth.

Different fabrics of bed sheets

king-size-bamboo-cotton-sheets1Going shopping for new bed sheets for your bed should be an easy task. Walking into a bedding store and you start to look at all the sheet sets you notice how many different types of sheets, and fabric, and thread counts from 120 to 1000 and more. Looking at all the different shelves fill with sheet sets you think they are all the same, wrong they are all different makes and thread counts from single size to cal-king size.

Searching to see how many kinds of fabric there was I came across these names: Bamboo, Cotton, Cotton Blend, Egyptian cotton, Flannel, Italian Linen, Jersey, Modal, Muslin, Organic cotton, Percale, Pima Cotton, Sateen, Satin, Silk, Supima Cotton and Synthetic. Now that is a lot of different fabrics to think about when it comes to buying a set of sheets for your bed. I am going to pick just a couple to talk about and explain the fabric type in my next couple of blogs. Let’s start with Bamboo the first one.

Bamboo is quit new to the bedding world. It comes from the pulp of the bamboo grass. The fabric is resistant to bacteria and is also hypo-allergenic. If you know some one or a family member who suffer with allergies this is a great alternative to organic cotton since bamboo grows quickly using less water then cotton and without fertilizers or pesticides. Bamboo sheets are soft, supple and silky to touch.

Cotton: This is another one of the fabrics I mention above and cotton is the most popular fabric. Cotton is considered the best all season fiber. It is cool in the summer and warm in the winter. Cotton breathes keeping body moisture away from the skin.

Keep Your Comforter Clean with a Duvet Cover

twin-duvet-coversComforters are one of the most expensive pieces of bedding, so it makes sense to invest in a cover to protect them and make cleaning easier. Since comforters are big and bulky, they may not fit into the usual household washing machines. They will be cumbersome to wash by hand too. Washing them may also ruin the filling of the comforter, which can result in misshaping and bulking of the comforter. The contact with detergent soap and other chemicals may also erode the dust-repelling qualities of the fabrics and filling. Duvet covers make maintenance a breeze no matter what type of comforter. A bedspread or other blanket can be useful, but using a duvet cover is the better choice.

From twin duvet covers to king-sized options, there is a model to fit any bed. Not only will a duvet cover effectively protect the comforter but it allows affords you the opportunity to complement and enhance your bedroom décor. Because there is such a wide array of designs available, there is something for every taste and style.
