Creating a Matching Bedroom Set
If you’re interested in adding a bit of style to your bedroom, consider revising your bedding and bedroom furniture to match. Though furniture is a bit more expensive to replace, it’s easy to dress up your bedding to match your furniture through use of luxury duvet covers and pillowcases. For example, you might consider bedding with more earthy tones like green, taupe, crimson, or orange for more rustic beds. If your bedroom is comprised of more contemporary metal furniture, think bold tones like blue, black, or even purple.
If you have a mix of furniture in your bedroom, you might consider updating it if that’s an affordable option, or repaint and refinish it instead. If you can’t do any of the above, use the bed as the central focus and build the theme of the room around it. Through doing this you can create a stylistic space that you will love to return to after a hard day.
Replacing Your Old Pillows
The topic of old pillows came upon the weekend when I was cleaning up my boat for the summer fun ahead. I had my bed pillows in a bag that I left on the boat over the winter. They got damage so I toss them out. This was when the subject came up in a conversation how long should you keep your pillows. I did a little research and came up with some interesting answers I hope for you.
Think about how many times over the years you replaced your mattress, your comforters and sheets. Now think about your pillow, did you have it when you were in college or living at home. You feel it is so comfortable but you take note that you are not sleeping as well as you should be look under your head pillows wear out.
Shopping for a pillow look for a down pillow that’s hypoallergenic, supportive and lightweight made of high quality cotton pillow case or cover.
Pillow Cleaning
You’re tired and you go to bed but you can’t sleep. Do you ever wonder what is keeping you a wake? It could be the mites or allergens in your bed pillow. We launder our down comforter’s pillowcases and sheets on a regular base, but we need to clean our pillows at least every six months. Otherwise you could be sharing your bed and pillow with some unwanted guest like: Dust mites, Fleas, Ticks, Dead skin, Mildew, and Mold.
To get rid of these unwanted guest you can machine wash or hand wash you pillows or better yet get them dry cleaned. Pillows with materials like wool or foam need special care. Wool pillows can only be dry clean and foam pillows should be hand washed.
Taking care of your pillow in the same way we take care of your bedding is a good habit to get into. So if you can’t recall how long it’s been since you bought yourself a new pillow maybe it’s time to throw out the old and but a new pillow. They say a good night sleep starts at the head, so taking care of your pillow you will see a difference.
Spring Cleaning
I remember away back when it came around the month of April my mom would have us all pitching in to do spring cleaning around the house.
Mom would start with the kitchen cleaning out the cupboards throwing out old products that got shove into the back. Washing down the shelves putting everything back neatly in to the freshly clean cupboards. Mom always took care of the spring cleaning around most of the house.
My sister and I had one chore to do every spring and that was to do our own bed rooms. We would dust every thing in our rooms clean out our closets. Mom had us check out our winter wardrobe pack them away and get out our spring clothes. We would be at this all day as mom would check up on us to make sure it was done right.
The best part of spring cleaning was that we got to remove the flannel sheets. Mom would get us some new fresh Egyptian cotton sheets for the summer. We would put away our heavy duvets and put a freshly wash light coverlet blanket on our beds.
Spring cleaning for kid’s can be a big chore but in the end when all is done our rooms were fresh and bright ready to enjoy the coming months of spring and summer.
