percale-sheet-setsCountry home decor is a very popular theme and has been for many years.  Cottage style, rustic, Americana, country plaids and checks, Victorian, European country, farm styles, log cabin, lodge styles, patriotic, and retro are all offshoots of country home decor, which emanate a warm, inviting feeling. Since such a wide range of styles and products fall under the country home umbrella, it’s easy to add these accents to your home.

Country bedding ensembles are part of this look when decorating a bedroom. Combine handmade quilts with your queen percale sheets to achieve a rustic, inviting façade. Nostalgic kitchen linens, bathroom accents, and vintage-inspired cookware, such as the Dutch oven, have made a comeback as accompaniments to the country home decor renaissance.

king-size-bamboo-cotton-sheets1Going shopping for new bed sheets for your bed should be an easy task. Walking into a bedding store and you start to look at all the sheet sets you notice how many different types of sheets, and fabric, and thread counts from 120 to 1000 and more. Looking at all the different shelves fill with sheet sets you think they are all the same, wrong they are all different makes and thread counts from single size to cal-king size.

Searching to see how many kinds of fabric there was I came across these names: Bamboo, Cotton, Cotton Blend, Egyptian cotton, Flannel, Italian Linen, Jersey, Modal, Muslin, Organic cotton, Percale, Pima Cotton, Sateen, Satin, Silk, Supima Cotton and Synthetic. Now that is a lot of different fabrics to think about when it comes to buying a set of sheets for your bed. I am going to pick just a couple to talk about and explain the fabric type in my next couple of blogs. Let’s start with Bamboo the first one.

Bamboo is quit new to the bedding world. It comes from the pulp of the bamboo grass. The fabric is resistant to bacteria and is also hypo-allergenic. If you know some one or a family member who suffer with allergies this is a great alternative to organic cotton since bamboo grows quickly using less water then cotton and without fertilizers or pesticides. Bamboo sheets are soft, supple and silky to touch.

Cotton: This is another one of the fabrics I mention above and cotton is the most popular fabric. Cotton is considered the best all season fiber. It is cool in the summer and warm in the winter. Cotton breathes keeping body moisture away from the skin.

We talk about Egyptian cotton being the smoothest and softest in the world. We also mention in the second article about Egyptian cotton being moisture absorption capacity and breathability.
This third reason is you- yes, you and everyone who enjoys and deserve some pampering and luxury. Like a lot of us we cannot afford to own luxury cars like Mercedes-Benz, but purchasing quality Egyptian cotton sheet sets is affordable. Pampering our selves with fine bed linens is a better choice then a luxury automobile. Think about it we spend more time in our beds then our cars. Remember this that softness of fine Egyptian cotton improves with age and washing, while our cars just depreciates, wears out with age and use.

Egyptian cotton is great for its moisture absorption and its breathability. This is important for people when sleeping to stay dry and comfortable. While sleeping a person’s skin gives off small amounts of perspiration and transferring it to the air in the room. This caused by the ability of the cotton as it is able to breath. With the Egyptian cotton sheets staying dry and comfortable this insures a sound sleep for a person despite the naturally perspiring body.

The next reason for Egyptian cotton linens will be about pampering yourself in these luxury linens.

t300-king-size-solid100-egyotian-cotton-sheet-setWe all like luxury bed linens. That’s why we choose Egyptian cotton bed linen as it will last for decades and become softer with each laundering. Beside these two facts there are three more reasons for buying the very best bed linens. Here is the first of the three and I will write about the other two later.
Egyptian cotton is the smoothest and softest cotton in the world. The reason for this quality of cotton is it is made from the longest staple or fiber of any cotton variety. These cotton fibers have very small diameters or thickness. The long thin fibers of Egyptian cotton are twisted in to small threads or yarn they become a strong smooth yarn results with longer lengths of continuous fiber than other cotton varieties. After these thin fine yarns are weaved into fabric, the results are a finer textured material which feels very soft and smooth. Later I will writer the next two reasons for wanting Egyptian cotton bed linens.

Queen size mattresses are amongst the most popular size. Their size makes them comfortable, as you can stretch out into your preferred sleeping position without your hands or feet hanging off the bed and without disturbing your partner. A queen mattress set is a great investment.

Queen Size Mattress Dimensions

A queen size measurement is sixty by eighty inches. When you compare this to a standard double bed at fifty four by seventy five inches you can see that it is more generous and therefore a lot more comfortable if you like to stretch out.

An Olympic queen size mattress measures sixty six by eight inches. Simmons is well known for this size and it is worth buying one of these if you want some extra room.

Buying Tips

You will need a bed frame with five or six legs to support a queen size mattress because it is bigger and heavier than smaller models. If your bed has a headboard and footboard, you will need to use a minimum of five wooden slats with three of them arranged in the center third of the bed.

An innerspring mattress will last about ten years. A memory foam or latex mattress should last double this amount of time. Some memory foam can last for twenty five years but they do vary according to how you treat them and what kind of brands you have. When it is dirty, you can clean it with a slightly damp cloth and a mild surface cleanser or with a vacuum cleaner.

A queen size mattress needs to go on top of a firm base so it does not sag. You should rotate a new mattress every four weeks for the first half a year, and then every couple of months after that.

We always should make sure that we take the measurements of our mattress to get the perfect fit ted sheets as some mattresses need queen sheet sets with deep pockets.
