So I keep reading these posts, and you really have me considering bamboo bedding. Before I stumbled on this, I had never even heard of it! Question: how will this stuff work with standard waterbed mattresses? Will it fit?

The bedroom is where you spend the most time in your house. I agree with the post to make it as appealing for yourself as possible. A set of fine fine linens does that and with a great material like Egyptian cotton, they will last a long time.

When getting ready for guests I use small sample sizes of shampoo, conditioner, bath gel and toothpaste. A new toothbrush is left for each guest. In the winter extra blankets and always a couple choices of pillow types and firmness.

I think you are right. If you can buy the bed linens in a set and get them before you paint the walls you will be able to coordinate everything better. Sometimes the color in the picture is not quite the same. It's easier to take a piece of material to the paint store and pick a color to go with it than trying to buy something to match the wall.

I too have a special pillow, don't travel much but do take it with me. Have trouble sleeping and have had very bad experiences when I use a different pillow. Left shoulder muscle strain that took 2 months to get better. Then a pinched nerve in rt. side of neck that took a year and lots of chiropractor adjustments. The right pillow is very important.

After some more research - In 1959, an African American woman by the name of Bertha Berman patented a design for fitted sheets that had corners sewn in a way that would fit the sheet to the mattress. These sheets were still less than perfect as they still managed to pop off the bed. These sheets needed elastic garters and other gadgets to keep the sheet on the bed. Finally in 1990, Gisele Jubinville created a fitted sheet deep corner pockets that grab a mattress and stay put. She sold the patent in 1993 for $1 million.
