When buying waterbed sheets one must be sure to measure to get the proper size and fit. The depth of the mattress is another important aspect to take into consideration and also the frame type. Less expensive then waterbed sheets.

Waterbed sheets come in three popular materials cotton, satin, and flannel. Waterbed sheets have a thread count that lets you know how many threads in each square inch of fabric. It is advisable when buying waterbed sheets to include a comforter. A matching or complimentary comforter adds style to the sheet set. Another advantage to buying sheet and comforter is that they are usually less expensive when bought together. They feature all the things a waterbed owners needs for their bed in one package.

Just like the down they use to make down comforters is the same procedure when it comes to goose down pillows. Pillows are made to sleep on and there are also decorative throw pillows that you will see displayed on couches and beds. A pillow that we sleep on is a cushion made to support our heads when sleeping.

Fillers in pillows are generally made of foam, synthetic fills, feathers, down or other materials. Down filled and feather pillows are a better quality and offer softness and ability to contour to the shape of the person sleeping on it. Hypoallergenic down pillows are available for sensitive people who are bothered by other types of down pillows. Another fact about pillows that in the Far East, Japan they use buckwheat as a filler which makes a smaller pillow then the standard or Western style pillow.

Most pillows should be cleaned on regular bases as they can become dirty and be a haven for dust mites. Most pillows can be washed in a washing machine and dried in driers. Some more expensive pillows have to be dried cleaned. One more facts about pillows is that they say you should replace your old pillows about every five years or sooner if it get worn out and no longer comfortable for a good night sleep.

Here is a little interesting history, back in earlier days they used straw as filler, but was very uncomfortable.

Comforters are big fluffy blanks filled with artificial material like polyester batting, or natural material like goose down or feathers.

For those who have allergies there are many choices of hypoallergenic comforters that are made with a down substitute or other textiles like silk, alpaca or organic wool.

The thread count plays a big role in linens of all kinds as the higher the count the better the quality of the product. If a comforter has a high thread count it prevents the down from leaking through and increases the life of the comforter. There are comforters for every one including children to cuddle up with in the spring, summer and winter nights.

Duvet covers come in a variety of styles and colors. Cotton is the most common of cover material. Then there is the satin duvet luxurious and smooth. The last one is silk a natural fiber created by some types of worms. Silk threads are smooth and strong and they are hypoallergenic and warm.

Because there are several different types of material for duvet covers people should try several materials before choosing their favorite.

You will find that the thread counts range from180-200.The thread count in percale sheet  fabric is higher and noticeably tighter than standard type weave used in bed linens. Percale fabric is of medium weight, smooth, firm with no gloss and washes well. The fabric percale can be made in solid colors or printed patterns.

In the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries percale was originally imported from India and then manufactured in France. Percale may have originated from the Persian  pargālah, ‘rag’.  The Oxford English Dictionary has traced it as far as the 18th century French.
