Facts About Pillows ( part one)
There are many things that one can say about pillows. One fact about pillows is they come in many different styles and sizes. Pillows are made to sleep on and there are also decorative throw pillows that you will see displayed on couches and beds. A pillow that we sleep on is a cushion made to support our heads when sleeping.
Fillers in pillows are generally made of foam, synthetic fills, feathers, down or other materials. Down filled and feather pillows are a better quality and offer softness and ability to contour to the shape of the person sleeping on it. Hypoallergenic down pillows are available for sensitive people who are bothered by other types of down pillows. Another fact about pillows that in the Far East, Japan they use buckwheat as a filler which makes a smaller pillow then the standard or Western style pillow.
Most pillows should be cleaned on regular bases as they can become dirty and be a haven for dust mites. Most pillows can be washed in a washing machine and dried in driers. Some more expensive pillows have to be dried cleaned. One more facts about pillows is that they say you should replace your old pillows about every five years or sooner if it get worn out and no longer comfortable for a good night sleep.
Here is a little interesting history, back in earlier days they used straw as filler, but was very uncomfortable.
