Queen Size Mattresses
By Jenny Watson
Queen size mattresses are amongst the most popular size. Their size makes them comfortable, as you can stretch out into your preferred sleeping position without your hands or feet hanging off the bed and without disturbing your partner. A queen mattress set is a great investment.
Queen Size Mattress Dimensions
A queen size measurement is sixty by eighty inches. When you compare this to a standard double bed at fifty four by seventy five inches you can see that it is more generous and therefore a lot more comfortable if you like to stretch out.
An Olympic queen size mattress measures sixty six by eight inches. Simmons is well known for this size and it is worth buying one of these if you want some extra room.
Buying Tips
You will need a bed frame with five or six legs to support a queen size mattress because it is bigger and heavier than smaller models. If your bed has a headboard and footboard, you will need to use a minimum of five wooden slats with three of them arranged in the center third of the bed.
An innerspring mattress will last about ten years. A memory foam or latex mattress should last double this amount of time. Some memory foam can last for twenty five years but they do vary according to how you treat them and what kind of brands you have. When it is dirty, you can clean it with a slightly damp cloth and a mild surface cleanser or with a vacuum cleaner.
A queen size mattress needs to go on top of a firm base so it does not sag. You should rotate a new mattress every four weeks for the first half a year, and then every couple of months after that.
We always should make sure that we take the measurements of our mattress to get the perfect fit ted sheets as some mattresses need queen sheet sets with deep pockets.
