standardpair-of-solid-pillow-cases550-thread-countIn many of the articles I write about they talk briefly about thread counts in the different makes of sheets comforter and towels. This short article is all about thread count.

Thread count is the number of fibers woven together in one square inch of fabric. The count can go from 80 to 1200.They say the higher the count the smoother and softer the fabric. The finer threads are more delicate and need more care when washing. Ply is a number of single fibers twisted together before it becomes a woven fabric. Twisting two fibers together can double the count.100TCsheets are actually 330TC 3-ply or 250TC 4-ply.The heavier and thicker the sheet the higher the ply and this could cause the fabric pilling (little balls).500TC is the highest thread count in a single ply. 1000TC sheets are 2-ply.300Tc is usually soft enough for most people. A lighter sheet select 250 to500TC made with a single ply.

This is just a little information on how you can read the thread count on the labels when buying linens for your personal home decorating
